Here are some ideas I have for our chat:
1. In the sermon I suggest that the teachings and tenants of Zoroaster influenced the beliefs of Judaism, Christianity and Islam. (While exiled in Babylon, Judaism was influenced by this Persian religion). There are many other examples of how our Judeo/Christian tradition has been influenced over the centuries by other cultures and religions. Do you think this is still happening or is the Christian faith fixed and unchanging? Why do you think so?
2. Is the "light" metaphor for Jesus helpful to you? In my sermon, I mention that light reveals, guides and comforts. Which of these three aspects of light do you personally relate to most strongly when you consider Christ as the Light?
3. What other thoughts or questions come to you as you reflect on the sermon last Sunday?
